Boro History
TEAM WORK
The secret of it all was team-work, and a perfect understanding among the forwards. In a brilliant attack Camsell was a magnificent leader and it was fitting that he should obtain four goals. His first was one of the finest he has ever scored, for single handed he tricked four defenders before leaving Smith helpless with an unstoppable shot.
In his dribble George revealed splendid ball control; he did not neglect his wingers, while his shooting was of a deadly nature.
In the opinion of many Camsell is the best centre-forward in the game today, and he ought to be England’s leader for the match with France on December 6.

BRUCE DAZZLES
Bruce, too, was a dazzling forward, and varied his game in clever fashion. He played further up the field than is his wont, and this, no doubt , is why he was so successful as a marksman. Previously he has been shooting from too far out. On Saturday, from shorter range, there was no stopping his drives. His free kick was a wonderful effort.
One of the pleasing features of the work of the attack, however was the return to form of Baxter. This boy had his best game of the season. He paved the way for at least two of the goals, and his own was the result of a glorious shot.
With him, as in the case with Ferguson the director’s patience is being rewarded for the little outside-right had a good match. If these youngsters continue to improve Middlesbrough will have one of the best attacks in the First Division

HALF-BACKS SUPPORT
The half-backs were again a grand trio, Brown and Martin never hesitating to move down the field with their forwards, and they rendered them excellent service.
Because of the shaky start by the defence Griffiths stayed further back than he would otherwise have done,  but he was always doing good work.
Jennings was the better back, for Stuart made many mistakes and miskicks which might have cost the side dearly had not his captain and Jennings covered up in splendid fashion.
Gibson, although beaten three times, maintained his fine form of the past few weeks.

QUESTIONABLE TACTICS
Long before the end Sheffield United were reduced to a state of despair, and there is little doubt that this was responsible for a number of fouls on Middlesbrough players, many of which were allowed to pass unnoticed by the referee. Eventually, however, the official in charge took the name of Holmes, the United centre-half who had been particularly rough on Camsell.
This spoiled an otherwise wonderful game. As I stated in the “Sports Gazette” on Saturday night, it was the Borough’s record score in either First or Second Division, but it does not constitute a record for the League. In 1909 Notts Forest defeated Leicester Fosse 12-0 in a First Division game, while way back in 1892 West Bromwich rattled up 12 against Darwin, who could not reply. The Borough’s previous best score was a 9-2 victory over Gainsborough Trinity in 1900-01 when the teams were in the Second Division.
