Teams of the decade. Built up from the team of the season which are in turn formed each season from the
11 players with the most appearances. (and of late to include a 12th or more as substitute.)
It does not follow that those listed here have made the greatest contribution to
Middlesbrough Football Club. Players playing in two decades may fail to make these
lists as their efforts are split over two periods. The purpose here is to find a
team that represented a well defined period of time, that of a decade. The expression
‘team’ is a bit loose. It’s more of a list of 11 players who may or may not form
a well- Outfield players are listed alphabetically by surname. Players highlighted in bold are the Players of the Decade. They are the individual
players with the most entries in the Player of the Season during the decade. If 2
or more players have the same number of seasons then it’s down to the number of games
played in the stated decade. Dicky Robinson and Geoff Walker could not be separated
in the war-
